All of my classes scaffold, slowly and carefully building skills to make good quality art. Each lesson begins with an explanation/reason/historical context, followed by a class demo with the students working along with me on the doc camera to make a miniature project, before being let loose to create their own work. I try to balance skill and creativity, students create thumbnail sketches to brainstorm, as well as self evaluations and reflections at the end.
